Sensex back in positive zone in late morning trade, up 80 points

MUMBAI: Reversing early losses, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex rebounded almost 80 points in late morning trade today on the back of
revival of buying in heavy-weight stocks.
The Sensex, which had lost nearly 78 points in opening trade, recovered 80.15 points at 16,203.82 levels with oil, gas and metal sector stocks staging a comeback.
Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty moved up 19.80 points to 4,825.05 at 1145 hrs. It had shed 21.75 points in opening trade.
Brokers said the emergence of buying by fund and retail investors and covering-up of short positions by speculators, helped the Sensex to recover from early lows.
