Narayan Majumder, 37, was struck by a Shovu Jatra Paribahan bus while crossing the Mirpur road near Lazz Pharma around 5:30pm.
Doctors pronounced him dead after he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Police seized the bus and detained its driver, Enamul Haque, a sub-inspector at the Dhanmondi Police Station,
