Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged doctors to behave with patients like friends.
“A little touch of your hand and sympathy could boost confidence of the patients,” she said while addressing the 12th Convocation of Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on Sunday.
Hasina told the physicians the people had high expectations from them.
The prime minister handed over certificates to 924 specialsed doctors, fellowship to 16 local and foreign doctors and gold medals to six fellows.
“I hope you will bring smile on their (patients) faces by providing healthcare and thus serve the country and the nation,” she said.

Hasina said since its inception in 1972, the college had made contributions to the development of health service by creating specialised doctors through its training, research, workshops and seminars.
So far, 4,173 specialised physicians have obtained fellowship from the college.
