Two day labourers died and four others fell sick after drinking poisonous liquor in Bera upazila of Pabna Thursday morning.
Police identified the deceased as Md Abdul Hannan, 30, and Mannan Hossain, 32, of Panchakhola village in the upazila, reports our Pabna correspondent.
Abdul Hye Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Bera Police Station, said the day labourers found some bottles of liquor in an abandoned condition at a field where a Jatra was staged Wednesday night.
They fell sick around 8:00am soon after consuming the liquor, the OC said.
One of them died on the spot while another on way to local health complex.
Among the sick persons, three were rushed to Pabna Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
