Nanok preditcts DCC polls will be fair


DHAKA, April 11 (BSS)- Awami League organising secretary and state minister for LGRD Jahangir Kabir Nanak today hoped that the residents of the capital city would cast their votes in favour of the candidates supported by his party in the ensuing Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) polls to complete the trial of the war criminals.
“We strongly believe that the mayoral elections to the Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) will be free, fair and neutral like the past,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at the extended meeting of Dhaka City Awami League at its Bangabandhu Avenue office in the city.
Nanak claimed that for the first time in the country, the Awami League government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina could ensure free, fair and peaceful elections in Upazila, Union Parishad, Municipalities, City Corporations and eight parliament constituencies.
The meeting was convened to make the party programmes for the Bangla New Year’s Day on April 14, the Mujibnagar Day on April 18 and the grand reception to be accorded to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the country’s victory over its maritime boundary with Myanmar on April 28 a success.
Acting president of Dhaka City Awami League MA Aziz chaired the meeting, which was also addressed by general secretary Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya (Bir Bikram) and Awami Juba League general secretary Mirza Azam MP. Dhaka City AL leaders including Faezuddin Miah, Haji Md Selim, Shahe Alam Murad, Abdul Huq Sabuj and Shahidul Islam Milon were present, among others.
