BSF kills 1 in Chapainawabganj





Indian Border Security Force (BSF) allegedly gunned down a Bangladeshi cattle trader along Shingnagar frontier in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj early Wednesday.
The dead victim was identified as Ruhul Amin, 25, son of one Sirajul Islam of Tarapur village in the upazila, reports our Chapainawabganj correspondent.
The BSF troops of Daulatpur camp of 125 Maldah BSF Battalion in Pashchimbanga opened fire on Ruhul around 4:30am while he along with a group of traders went near Shingnagar frontier to receive a consignment of cattle from Indian traders, locals said.
Ruhul died on the spot while his fellow traders managed to escape unhurt, they added.
Later, locals brought the body to Ruhul Amin's house.
On information, police reached to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Adhunik Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Abdus Salam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shibganj Police Station.
Lt Col Jahangir Hossain, commanding officer of 39 BGB Battalion, told The Daily Star that Ruhul was shot dead.
Abdul Gofur, company commandeer of BGB Monakasha camp, said they sent a letter to their Indian counterpart asking for a flag meeting at Shingnagar frontier in this regard.
