Foreign Minister Dipu Moni
Foreign Minister Dipu Moni on Wednesday preached to the media to be positive and supportive, saying that the press should know when and where it should stop.
“Media needs to understand when to stop and where to stop. You must know when to give space,” she said while addressing the concluding session of an international conference titled “Challenges and Opportunities of Twenty First Century SAARC”.
Stressing the need for positive and constructive role of media as well as maturity of media people, Dipu Moni surprisingly came down on the press saying, “Maturity must be there on the part of the media and that of the policymaker.”
“At the beginning if you ask too many questions then minds will be stifled,” she added.
Although there was no question from the media on the occasion, she said Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) organised the two-day conference which was participated by scholars, civil and military officials, academics and researchers from SAARC countries, and Singapore and Myanmar.
