Journo Shila breathes her last

Journalist Shila Afroza died Tuesday at her Pallabi residence in the city. She had been suffering from brain cancer for the last seven years. She was 37.
She left her husband and two daughters – Arshi, 9, and Urvashi, 5, and a host of relatives, friends and well-wishers to mourn her premature death.
After completing honours and masters from mass communication and journalism at Dhaka University, she devoted herself to journalism.
In 1997, Shila Afroza joined the daily Bhorer Kagoj. In 2004, she joined the daily Amar Desh but could not continue her career after she was diagnosed with brain tumor.
Her passion towards journalism and her diligence earned different awards for her including the best reporter award of Dhaka Reporters Unity and UNFPA.
On information from her journalist husband ATM Sayeeduzzaman that Shila breathed her last around 11:00am, friends, former colleagues and relatives rushed to Pallabi to pay their last respects.
After namaz-e-janaza at a local mosque, her body was taken to her father-in-law’s village home in Chandpur where she will be buried at night.
Dhaka Reporters Unity expressed deep shock at her death and prayed for the salvation of her departed soul.
