Saudi team in city


A Saudi Arabian expert team arrived in Dhaka Tuesday morning to assist local investigators in probing the murder of Saudi embassy official Khalaf Al Ali.
Unknown assailants shot dead Ali, 45, near his residence in Gulshan in the capital on March 6.
Investigators are yet to disclose any progress of the probe and are yet to arrest anyone in this connection.
The eight-member Saudi team comprising Saudi Arabian foreign and home ministry officials landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:00am, said Masudur Rahman, additional deputy commissioner of Media and Community Service of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
He told The Daily Star that the team will assist members of Detective Branch of police who are investigating the murder.
The team will hold meeting with officials of home and foreign ministries, police and intelligence agencies about the investigation.
The Saudi team will stay three to four days, said Masudur.
The team members are Khalid Al Khamis, Mohammad Al Brasin, Faisal Al Simali, Mohammad Al Gambi, Faisal Al Mutiri, Abdullah Al Sharani, Yiahia Al Shai and Saleh Al Hamid.
Talking to The Daily Star, Joint Commissioner (DB) Maruf Hasan said the delegation members boarded in Hotel Radisson and they did not visit the crime scene on Tuesday as well as did not meet any officials of the Bangladesh government
