Govt evaluating World Bank's reply over Padma Bridge funding: Muhith

Dhaka: Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Friday said the government is evaluating the reply they received from the World Bank on its suspension of $ 1.2 billion funding for the Padma Bridge Project on allegations of corruption.
"The reply from the World Bank is neither in favour of, nor against the government," he told reporters after attending a meeting at his secretariat office Friday noon.
Muhith said the government had put forward some proposals to the lending agency and the World Bank sent its reply, which is technical. "Lets see what we can do… there is need for more discussion."
The World Bank earlier committed to provide $ 1.2 billion for the 6.15 km long Padma Bridge project apart from $ 615 million from the Asian Development Bank, $ 400 million from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and $ 140 million from the  Islamic Development Bank (IDB). UNB
