Chandpur Jubo Dal man dies in triangular clash

A Jubo Dal activist was killed and at least 30, including three law enforcers, were injured in a triangular clash among BNP and Awami League activists and law enforcers in Faridganj upazila of Chandpur today.
The deceased, Arif Hossain, 25, died of bullet wounds, our correspondent reported quoting Amir Zafar, Chandpur superintendent of police (SP).
His details could not be learnt immediately.
According to the Chandpur SP, a clash broke out when police tried to intercept activists of upazila BNP who attempted to bring out a procession after a rally near Faridganj bazar around 5:00pm.
Police fired teargas and rubber bullets to disperse them.
At this point, workers of local Awami League, who took position on the other part of the bazaar, joined police, reports our correspondent.
At least 30 were injured in phases of clash that continued for one hour.
The injured were taken to Chandpur Sadar Hospital and local clinics.
Of the injured, upazila AL unit general secretary Shayed Sarker and district-level BNP leader Joynal Abedin’s condition is critical, added our reporter.
