Activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Jubo Dal clashed at Suhrawardy Udyan over taking position near the podium set up for the opposition’s rally.
The scuffle began around 1:15pm when a group of Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, men tried to secure the space near the left side of podium.
JCD and Jubo Dal, student and youth front of the main opposition BNP, Also tried to gather there, prompting a chase and counter-chase.
The scuffle continued for 10 minutes.
The senior leaders later intervened, asking the clashing groups over loudspeakers to calm down, thus ending the disorder.
