Ekushey Television Chairman and managing director of Ekushey Television
(ETV) got bail in a case filed for not submitting income tax return on
Sunday.
Judge Md. Jahurul Haque of senior special judge court granted the bail in response to a bail plea by ETV chairman Abdus Salam, MD Ashraful Alam after surrendered before it.
Earlier on March 20, the Court summoned ETV chairman Abdus Salam, MD Ashraful Alam to explain the matter on April 10 after taking the deposition of the plaintiff.
Deputy tax commissioner of Tax Zone –9 of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Md. Abu Sayed filed the case against the chairman and managing director of Ekushey Television.
They got bail appearing before the court before the date.
According to the case statement, the defenders did not submit their income tax return willingly from fiscal year 2008-2009 to 2010-2011.
Even they did not respond the notice served earlier in this regard.
Advocate Kazi Nazibullah Hero moved for the accused while Metropolitan PP Abdullah Abu and Aditional PP Shah Alam Talukder stood for the state.
