Judge Mohsinul Haque of First Joint District Judge Court of Dhaka fixed the date for hearing on taking into cognizance the charges against Tanjin in the case.
Earlier in the day, Tauquir Ahmed and Bipasha Hayat filed the defamation case against Tanjin Haider and her husband Syed Ali Haider demanding compensation of Tk 50 crore.
Tauquir confirmed the matter to banglanews on Sunday morning.
Earlier in the morning, Tauquir Ahmed presented a written statement at a press conference at Dhaka Court Reporters Association.
He told journalists that he has paid his sister’s money many days ago. He also showed the photocopies of the cheque to the journalists.
He added: “I have filed the case in protest of her bid to malign me and my wife through such fake and harassment case against us.”
On March 19, Tanjin Haider, sister of Tauquir Ahmed, filed a case against Tauquir and Bipasha with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court for allegedly misappropriating about Tk 1.57 crore.
According to the case statement, the couple received $177,482 and Tk 15 lakh from Tanjin through bank and cash in two phases for setting up a firm named ‘Nokkhottrobari Resort and Convention Centre Limited’.
But the celebrity couple later refused to return the money or give her any share, the statement added.
Taking cognizance into the compliant, the court asked the celebrity couple to appear before it on April 4.
