Khaleda backs China’s Saarc membership bid

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Thursday expressed her “full support” to China in obtaining membership in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc).
Khaleda expressed her support when a delegation of Communist Party of China met her at a city hotel to request her support for their Saarc membership bid, BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told reporters.
Chinese Ambassador in Dhaka Zhang Xianyi was among the 13-member Chinese delegation.
China currently has observer status and is trying to get full-membership of the Saarc.
