DHAKA: The International Crime Tribunal (ICT) fixed Wednesday for the next hearing on framing charge against Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Molla for his alleged involvement in ‘crimes against humanity’.
The ICT, led by Justice Nizamul Haq, passed the deferment order following a petition for time for placing arguments of state prosecution.
Earlier, on March 8, the tribunal had deferred the hearing till March 13 following a petition filed by state prosecutor Mohammad Ali.
Some seven complaints were being brought against him under ICT Act-73 on March 7 and another complaint was added in the day.
On December 28, the ICT took into cognizance the formal charge against detained Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Molla in connection with his alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.
On December 18, the prosecution submitted formal charge sheet against the detained Jamaat leader to the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT).
Earlier on July 13, 2010 Abdul Quader Mollah was arrested from the High Court gate in a murder-and-arson case filed with Pallabi thana by an injured freedom fighter in January 2008.
Later, he was shown arrest on charge of crimes against humanity on August 2, 2010.
