AGARTALA: The government is set to honour 129 foreigners and institutions for their remarkable contribution to the 1971, independence of Bangladesh.
Of the recipients, some 47 are Indian citizens. Among the 47 people, some are from Tripura. Besides, Indian people and alliance force would also be honored.
Two previous Chief Ministers of Tripura were nominated for the honorarium. They are --Sachindra Lal Singh and Dasarath Deb.
Besides, Maharani Bibhu Kumari Debi, Doctor Rathin Datta and Ex-chief Secretary IP Gupta were also selected for the award.
Agartala GB Hospital will get the honorarium as an institution.
Chief Minister of Tripura Manik Sarkar is also likely to receive the award on behalf of people of Tripura for their outstanding contribution in the liberation war of Bangladesh. The people of the state gave shelter to some 17 lakh Bangladeshi during our independence war.
